Josephine Darvill-Mills

Josephine graduated from the Royal Ballet School before continuing her training at London Studio Centre where she gained a BA Hons in theatre dance.

On completing her degree she worked with the Flying Gorillas Movement Theatre Company and Nu Tempo Dance Company. She then played the role of Ethel le Naith in One Touch of Venus with Opera North, and created the role of Luchianna in Will Tuckett's production of Pinocchio at the Lindbury Theatre in the Royal Opera House. She went on to perform in Carousel at the Chichester Festival Theatre and played the role of Rosie in the west end production of Cabaret, she then became assistant choreographer for the remainder of the west end run and on tour.

She joined Phoenix dance theatre under the direction of Javier De Frutos completing tours in England and Europe and performing at Sadlers Wells theatre in London. During her time at Phoenix she also worked on the education programme teaching contemporary dance workshops to students. She then went on to work as Assistant Choreographer to Liam Steel on the production of Ben Hur Live at the O2 arena. Following this she performed in In The Spirit Of Diaghilev, a production produced by Sadlers Wells Theatre to mark the centenary of the founding of Diaghilev's Ballet Russes. She performed at Sadlers Wells and theatres around Europe including Paris, Monaco, Barcelona, Dijon and Luxembourg. She also worked as a workshop leader providing contemporary dance workshops on the repertoire throughout the tour. Jo recently performed in contemporary pop ballet The Most Incredible Thing at Sadlers Wells which was televised for BBC 4, this production was produced by both Sadlers Wells and The Pet Shop Boys.

Most recently Jo has been collaborating with State Of Flux Dance Film Company on the production Forgetting Natasha. Jo has taught extensively teaching both professionals and students. Most recently she has been teaching contemporary at Dance Works in London.
