Kaori Nakazawa-Cowie (Miss Kay)

After a successful career as a professional ballet dancer Kaori moved over to teaching. She started her training from the age of 5 in Tokyo and moved to London aged 17 to train and gain experience from the many wonderful teachers there. She joined the Salzburg Ballet Company in Austria in 1990 where she danced in the corps de ballet and danced soloist roles in Cinderella, Coppelia and Le Corsaire (Grand Pas de Deux). In 1992 she then joined the Ballet Schindowski Company in Gelsenkirchen, Germany where she started in the Corps de Ballet before being promoted to Soloist in 1994 and Principal in 1998. Her varied repertoire included classical ballet Principal roles in Swan Lake, Cinderella and La Sylphide, contemporary works such as Beauty and the Beast, Kriminelles Kind and E Muoio Disperato choreographed by Javier de Frutos. She was involved in a musical as well, West Side Story. In 2003 Kaori was offered the Assistant Director role at Ballet Schindowski which incorporated being the Company's Ballet and Rehearsal Mistress.

As a freelance guest teacher Kaori has taught at the Kyoko Ballet studio, Yoko Takagawa Ballet School summer course,in Japan, Olympia Centre Ballet Studio in Kiel, Germany and the Classique Academy School, England. Kaori holds the ISTD Licentiate qualification.
